Automotive meeting Tangier-Med

The automotive industry in Morocco has managed to increase its figures and improve its performance in a difficult context linked to the Covid-19 pandemic, promising, in this way, to maintain the dynamics of the sector. This is what emerges from the press conference organized on Friday September 16 to present the outline of the seventh edition of the Automotive meeting Tangier-Med (AMT), whose work will take place from September 26 to 28, at Tangier. “The health crisis linked to the Covid-19 pandemic has certainly slowed down the upward trend in this industry, particularly following confinement and the closing of borders, but this pause has also allowed the sector to start on a good footing. and develop further,” said Rachid Machou, vice-president of the Moroccan Association for the Industry and Construction of the Automobile (Amica), noting that the new investments “are a demonstration of the resilience of the sector Moroccan industrialist after the pandemic and admit an act of confidence in the Moroccan production platform, which should experience growth in favor of world industrial leaders”.

Initiated by the Amica, this seventh exhibition will be placed under the High Patronage of HM King Mohammed VI, around the theme “What strategy for the revival of the automotive industry sector”. Like the six previous editions, this professional meeting will be a crossroads for meetings between the main players in the Moroccan and foreign automotive sector, in particular manufacturers, equipment manufacturers (tiers 1 and 2), design offices and logisticians as well as representatives of the Moroccan administration in relation with the automotive sector. It will be “an opportunity to present the latest innovations in the automotive field, but also all the investment and trade opportunities between Morocco and Europe”, according to the organizers.

This seventh show will give pride of place to priority and topical subjects related to the automotive sector and the development of the electric fleet in Morocco, which is still timid. According to the latest statistical data communicated during this meeting with the media, this fleet increased to 89 in 2019, 139 in 2020, then to 688 in 2021, including 421 rechargeable hybrids. It will be an opportunity for participants to address several questions relating to the repercussions of the pandemic crisis, the change in the supply chain, the supply difficulties and the high cost of energy on the Moroccan industrial sector.

The choice of Tangier to host this seventh show is not fortuitous. The city, which is “now emblematic for the automotive industry in Morocco, has for some years now offered all the platforms and facilities that make it famous. The region is home to the Renault Tangier industrial complex, the Tanger-Med port and Tangier automotive city (TAC), the Tangier free zone (TFZ) with a mature and dense industrial fabric for all the protagonists in the automotive sector”, would like to specify the same source. Note that the program of the seventh show includes press conferences, B2B meetings, as well as thematic round tables, led by experts from the automotive sector.
