Al Omrane-Tamesna Convergence Forum: The city development plan under study

The various participants worked on ways to strengthen the economic aspect and investment, housing and equipment, governance and mobility.

The city of Tamesna needs major efforts for better mobility both at city level and to neighboring areas. An observation made by all the stakeholders at the City Convergence Forum organized on December 25th. This is an innovative approach initiated by the Al Omrane Group and its partners. A meeting in which institutional, operational and civil society actors took part to initiate reflection on the city’s development plan.

“Involving both operators-developers and residents, this creative approach brings all the stakeholders around the table for a harmonious development of the city”, indicates the Al Omrane Group. And to continue that “the originality of this participatory approach makes it possible to better respond to the development of the city by backing it to the real needs of the populations and by giving them the opportunity to appropriate it”. The various participants worked on ways to strengthen the economic aspect and investment, housing and equipment, governance and mobility. The proposals made at the end of the work can be integrated while taking into account the regulations.

Similarly, Laila Moulat, Vice-President of the Region, is committed to finding structuring solutions for the entire area. Note that the town of Tamesna is experiencing significant momentum today. Today it is home to more than 56,000 intramural inhabitants and more than 85,000 around the outer suburbs.

“Today, having more than sufficient local facilities for its inhabitants and those of the surrounding area, the establishment of green spaces and sports and leisure activities contributes to making it a pleasant city”, explains Al Omrane, who confirms that the he economic activity takes a preeminent place within the city.

“The industrial zone located at the entrance to the city, which is part of 250 hectares already programmed by the development plan next to the future City of Trades and Skills (CMC), already hosts around forty industrial lots, including 3 intended for support equipment, namely equipment of general interest, a mosque and a bus station ”, we learn from the developer. This area is indeed a structuring project for the city and the region. It is of strategic importance for the balance of the city insofar as it contributes to the growth in terms of investment in the Rabat-Kenitra region with 363.24 million dirhams and by generating a significant number of jobs, approximately 1,700 jobs to be created.
