An AMI for the enhancement of the “Anchor Point surf village” tourist development unit

The Souss-Massa Regional Investment Center published on Tuesday a call for expressions of interest (AMI) for the development of the Tourist Development Unit (UAT) “Anchor Point surf village”, which is a natural site of exception bordering the Atlantic coast north of Taghazout.
As part of the efforts made to promote investment and the economic and territorial development of the Souss-Massa region, an AMI has been launched in order to encourage investors to develop and enhance the Unit of tourist development “Anchor Point surf village”, located 20 km north of Agadir and immediately north of the village of Taghazout and the new integrated tourist resort of Taghazout – Taghazout Bay, and which extends over an area of ​​32 ha, belonging to the forest domain with a frontage on the Atlantic Ocean of 1,948 ml.

The AMI aims to select the best potentially advantageous offers for the development of the said site, making it possible to bring real added value to this area rich in tourist assets, endowed with a beach with multiple charms and renowned for its conditions, more than favorable. , in particular for water sports, in this case surfing. This project aims to design a concerted forest area development model in a harmonious way and according to a concept adapted to the local context marked by surfing activity at the emblematic spot Anchor Point and in respect of forest resources dominated by argan tree. According to the CRI, “the development and enhancement program of the “Anchor Point surf village” tourist development unit was designed by respecting a model of concerted development of the forest zone in a harmonious way and according to a concept adapted to the local context marked by the activity of surfing at the level of the emblematic spot Anchor Point and in respect of the forest resources dominated by the argan tree”.

As a result, this program consists of the lightest possible outdoor and common development to make the site both viable and to enhance tourism and preserve its natural character as much as possible, the organization of investments and construction of tourist accommodation to be planned, with a very reduced COS, which will meet the requirements of surfers with different standings and varied products, ensure visual breakthroughs from the high points towards the Atlantic Ocean, and the preservation of sustainable environmental quality. The beneficiary investor will have a period of eighteen (18) months to carry out his project on the allocated plot, from the date of obtaining the building permit.
It should be noted that the site is internationally known as “Anchor Point” and presents itself as a mecca for wave surfing with international potential at the WCT (World Championship Tour) level.
The (big) surf season starts in October and ends in May. For 8 months, the Anchor Point UAT runs at full speed. Outside this period, the surf schools work but at a slower pace, especially with beginners. During the summer season, local tourism takes over.
