The National Museums Foundation (FNM) and the Béni Mellal-Khénifra region signed, this Thursday, September 15, 2022, in Azilal, a partnership agreement relating to the management of the M’Goun Geopark museum.
A partnership agreement relating to the management of the M’Goun Geopark museum was signed by the president of the National Museums Foundation (FNM), Mehdi Qotbi, and the president of the Béni Mellal-Khénifra regional council, Adil Barakat, in presence in particular of the presidents of the provincial and municipal councils of Azilal.
Under this agreement, the Béni Mellal-Khénifra region makes available to the National Museums Foundation all the buildings comprising the M’Goun Geopark museum and their equipment and delegates the management of this museum space to the Foundation. .

In return, the National Museums Foundation undertakes, in particular, to provide technical and scientific support, to safeguard all the works of the M’Goun Geopark museum and to enrich its collection and its geological and archaeological heritage, to ensure the management of this museum space and participate in its national and international promotion.
On this occasion, Mehdi Qotbi highlighted the firm commitment of the National Museums Foundation to support and promote the M’Goun Geopark Museum, noting that the Foundation will put all its knowledge at the disposal of this space to give it a national and international resonance.
Mehdi Qotbi said he was very happy to discover this beautiful museum space which retraces the history of humanity and which reflects the dynamic instilled by King Mohammed VI in culture as a lever for development.
For his part, Adil Barakat welcomed the willingness of the National Museums Foundation to take over the management of the M’Goun Geopark museum in order to promote this high place of culture which is the pride of the whole. of the Béni Mellal-Khénifra region and which contributes to its cultural and tourist influence.
Adil Barakat added in this regard that the National Museums Foundation has recognized skills and expertise capable of strengthening the position of this mutual space within the network of national museums and making it a real lever for regional development.
The regional council of Béni Mellal-Khénifra had decided during its ordinary session of July 2022 to seal a partnership agreement with the National Foundation of Museums to guarantee better management of this museum and scientific structure. The objective, through this initiative, is to take advantage of the experience and expertise of the Foundation to make this space a locomotive of tourist development and create an economic dynamic within the territory of the Geopark of M’ Goun in particular and in the province of Azilal and the Beni Mellal-Khénifra region in general.
With a covered area of nearly 1,720 m2, the M’Goun Geopark Museum is distinguished by its typically Moroccan architecture and domes. A true showcase of the natural, geological, archaeological, cultural and landscape heritage of the M’Goun Geopark territory, the museum also aims to be a center of influence for scientific research on themes of interest to the Geopark.
