For assault and battery causing death without the intention of giving it, a young man of thirty-one years was sentenced by the criminal chamber at the Court of Appeal of Casablanca, to ten years of criminal imprisonment.
The defendant who tried to exculpate himself during his interrogation admitted to having beaten and kicked the victim, but he had no intention of taking his life. The autopsy report concluded that death occurred as a result of internal cerebral hemorrhage caused by severe beatings. The report said the corpse showed signs of violence and not of a sharp weapon.
The case dates back to January this year when the respondent and the victim were getting drunk in their Moulay Rachid neighborhood in Casablanca when a misunderstanding broke out between them about a cigarette.
