Great success for the first evening of the “Grands Concerts de Rabat”! 150,000 people attended the OLM Souissi stage, according to figures from the Ministry of Culture.

The OLM Souissi scene experienced a real craze, yesterday Thursday, September 22, 2022, marking the success of the launch of the festivities organized as part of the program “Rabat, capital of African culture”.

According to a source in the Ministry of Youth, Culture and Communication, 150,000 people were present during this first evening of the “Grands Concerts de Rabat”, hosted by the king of raï, Cheb Khaled and others. Moroccan artists like Snor and Manal Benchlikha.

“This cultural event, which is part of the designation of the city of Rabat as the capital of African culture, is above all an opportunity to celebrate the rich culture of the continent and the artists who continue to enrich it. This program of festivities, spread over a year, should help consolidate Morocco’s position on the African cultural and artistic scene. “Morocco works for and with Africa. South-South cooperation is a pillar of Morocco’s foreign policy. It is therefore quite normal that Morocco works to promote African culture and organizes events to celebrate it,” adds our source.

The second concert will take place on Friday 23 September. He will know the presence of the Moroccan rapper, El Grande Toto, alongside the Nigerian artist, Ayra Starr, in addition to the Congolese star, Dadju. The “Grands Concerts de Rabat” will then end on Saturday 24 September. Music lovers will then have an appointment with the Moroccan diva, Samira Saïd, whose songs have always been very successful in Morocco and in the Arab world. Also expected are the Malian artist Salif Keïta and the Moroccan group Fnaïre, in addition to the Moroccan called L’Artiste.

As a reminder, the program of festivities “Rabat capital of African culture” is organized throughout the year (from June 2022 to May 2023), and includes activities covering the different fields of creativity and the arts. According to a press release from the ministry, various activities are organized in all historic spaces, public squares and all districts of the city of Rabat, with the participation of representatives of civil society and the various national public institutions concerned by the cultural thing.
