Mrs. Fatim-Zahra Ammor, Minister of Tourism, Handicrafts and Social and Solidarity Economy is on a working visit, this Friday, September 23, to the seaside resorts of Saidia and Marchica, indicates a press release from the ministry.
In the continuity of the regional tours started with the resumption of the tourism sector, Mrs. Fatim-Zahra Ammor, Minister of Tourism, Handicrafts and the Social and Solidarity Economy is visiting, this Friday, September 23, the Region of the Oriental. This region conceals significant tourist potential, particularly seaside resorts, which position it as one of the most attractive regions during the summer period. This working visit thus focused on two key tourist sites, concentrating a large part of the potential of the region, namely the resort of Saidia and that of Marchica.
Indeed, the resort of Saidia represents a vector of major attractiveness of the destination of Saidia, thanks on the one hand to its current bed capacity of more than 6400 beds and on the other hand to the rich animation offer that it offers travellers, composed among other things, of an acqua park, a marina, a golf course and several beach clubs.
The resort of Marchica, on the other hand, is characterized by a unique ecotourism positioning that positions it as a seaside destination of choice while giving considerable importance to the environmental aspect of the natural treasure of the Marchica lagoon. Once completed, the resort will create a rich and diversified hotel offer with a bed capacity exceeding 2,500 beds, which will allow it to federate an important tourist ecosystem and fully play its role as a socio-economic engine for Grand Nador.
During this visit, the Minister was able to see the progress of the two stations and discuss with the actors concerned the solutions to be deployed to accelerate their construction. This visit also made it possible to take stock in a more general way of the investments that the Oriental region needs to improve its attractiveness, especially outside the summer season.
It should be remembered in this regard that the region recorded very good performances this summer. The number of arrivals at classified tourist accommodation establishments stood at more than 110,000 between June and August 2022, i.e. a growth of more than 30% compared to 2021 and a recovery of more than 90% compared to 2019 This trend is confirmed by the number of overnight stays of 360,000 recorded during the summer and which is close to the levels reached in 2019.
