More than 20 million euros have been invested by the Barceló Group hotel chain to breathe new life into its Tangier establishment dating from 1950. A sizeable investment that demonstrates the group’s desire to write a new page in the history of its historic property and establish it as an essential address in the northern capital. To do this, the new setting has been designed to meet the demand for hybrid tourism, highlighting both the many treasures of the city and its growing business center.
The beginnings of a fruitful collaboration
The Ministry of Tourism, Handicrafts and Social and Solidarity Economy; the Ministry of Investment, Convergence and Evaluation of Public Policies; and the Barceló Group have signed a memorandum of understanding intended to combine their efforts in order to contribute to the diversification of the hotel offer in Morocco and to the strengthening of the presence of the Spanish group in Morocco.
Moreover, on the occasion of the official opening of the Barceló Tanger hotel, Mrs. Fatim-Zahra Ammor, Minister of Tourism, Handicrafts and the Social and Solidarity Economy did not fail to come back to this partnership: “The stimulation of private tourism investment is one of our priorities, essential for the development and transformation of the sector. These investments will focus on several growth levers, including the strengthening of the hotel offer, an important link in the tourism value chain. We are delighted to see international operators have confidence in the potential of Morocco as a destination, and the Memorandum of Understanding signed today testifies to the desire of a large group like Barceló to consolidate its portfolio of hotels in Morocco on next five years »
A enthusiasm shared by Mr. Mohcine Jazouli, Minister in charge of Investment, Convergence and Evaluation of Public Policies: “Barceló is among the first tourist investors in the kingdom and this protocol is a clear signal of the prioritization of the Morocco in the Group’s international development strategy. The signing of this memorandum of understanding seals the commitment of the Spanish group to strengthen its presence in Morocco through investments of at least 500 million dirhams over the next 5 years which will materialize through the acquisition and renovation of several hotel units in the kingdom”.
A strategic location
Located in the heart of the city, facing the Mediterranean, the Barceló Tanger hotel offers its residents a prime location, close to all amenities (airport, train station, port) and the main tourist sites (Kasbah Museum, Caves of Hercules, Cape Spartel…). In addition to its more than strategic location, the establishment enjoys a breathtaking view of the city’s bay, almost giving the impression of being on board a boat. Moreover, the 200 rooms have all been decorated in shades of blue, reminiscent of the color of the sea. The space has been arranged in such a way as to offer an experience of total relaxation: whatever the type of accommodation chosen (Deluxe Rooms, Deluxe Frontal Rooms, Premium Rooms, Premium Frontal Rooms, Family Rooms or Junior Suite), each unit guarantees comfort, serenity and practicality thanks to the use of noble materials and the provision of a large range of services.
This state of well-being continues in the hotel’s Spa where various treatments are offered, as well as in the fully equipped gym. Finally, in addition to the long stretches of white sand that border the hotel, residents can also take advantage of the tranquility of the swimming pool to sunbathe or simply relax.
A cuisine rich in flavors
In terms of gastronomy, here again, the Barceló Tanger invites us to travel. The hotel offers an à la carte restaurant, a buffet restaurant and four bars where Moroccan and Spanish flavors are in the spotlight. The Azurita table offers a deliciously refined fusion of culinary specialties from both countries, while the BellaVista restaurant gives pride of place to organic, seasonal and local foods for healthy and balanced gastronomy. There is also a wide selection of tapas at the Breeze Pool Bar, located by the swimming pool, at the Blue Lobby Bar, offering a panoramic view of the Tangier corniche, at the Champs Sports Bar which will bring together sports enthusiasts as well as at B-Heaven. Located on the roof, on the tenth floor of the hotel, this rooftop stands out thanks to its incredible 360° view facing the Bay of Tangier, its modern setting referring to the bow of a liner, its cocktails signatures as well as its trendy musical programming.
A large-scale MICE space
With the aim of becoming an essential business address in Tangier, the new Barceló hotel has equipped itself with an event space that can be divided into 4 independent rooms and can accommodate up to 600 people. Ideal for organizing any type of meeting, conference or event. The different spaces can be adjusted as desired, offering a multitude of layout choices ranging from a theater-style layout to a gala style, including private rooms for small meetings. Each room has an elegant and refined setting bathed in light, offering a view of the sea or the green spaces of the property. Finally, the event space of the Barceló Tanger has a landscaped foyer ideal for organizing cocktail parties and coffee breaks. Of course, each room offers a wide choice of modern technical devices to meet the requirements of all kinds of events.
