The flow of tourist receipts reached 36.7 billion dirhams (MMDH) at the end of July 2022, up 179.1%, year-on-year, according to the Financial Studies and Forecasts Department (DEPF).
This performance follows the various measures taken to relaunch and energize the sector, including the reopening of national borders, explains the DEPF in its economic note for the month of September 2022, specifying that the recovery rate of these revenues compared to their level pre-crisis reached 88.4%.
Regarding arrivals to the “Morocco” destination, during the months of June and July 2022, 3.2 million arrivals were recorded, i.e. almost the same level reached, during the same period of 2019. At the end in the first half of 2022, the number of arrivals in the Kingdom was close to 3.4 million tourists, representing an increase of 303.4%, year-on-year, after a drop of 57.3% a year earlier. With regard to overnight stays in classified accommodation establishments, they amounted to 6.2 million overnight stays at the end of June 2022, up 128.9% year-on-year (after -39.9%). Compared to their pre-crisis level (end of June 2019), arrivals and overnight stays, at the end of June 2022, represented respectively nearly 63% and more than 54%.
In July 2022, tourist receipts continue to significantly exceed their pre-crisis level. Compared to July 2019, they increased by 17.8%, consolidating the increases recorded in June (+39.9%), in May (+1.9%) and in March 2022 (+12 .1%).
Thus, during the period from March to July 2022, these revenues improved compared to the same period of 2019 by 7.6%, after a drop of 71.7% a year earlier, reports the DEPF.
