Tribute to Mohamed Mechbal

The King Faisal Prize Committee organized a ceremony on Tuesday evening in honor of the prize winners, all categories combined, for 2020 and 2021, who excelled in the fields of “serving Islam”, Islamic studies , Arabic language and literature, medicine and science, including Moroccan researcher Mohamed Mechbal.

Chaired by Prince Khalid Al-Faisal, advisor to the Servant of the Two Holy Places, governor of the Mecca region, the Committee unveiled last February the names of the prize-winners for the year 2021 in its five categories, including the King Faisal Prize for Arabic Language and Literature, which was awarded this year to the professor of rhetoric and literary criticism at the Faculty of Letters and Human Sciences of the Abdelmalek Essaâdi University of Tetouan, Mohamed Mechbal. For the Secretary General of the King Faisal International Prize, Abdulaziz Al-Sabeel, Mr. Mechbal’s work in the field of the new rhetoric “is characterized by depth, novelty and authenticity combining theory and practice, and seeks to to link rhetorical research to the fields of literature, language and communication, and to lay the theoretical and procedural foundations of the beginnings of modern Arabic rhetorical discourse ”.
